Ch 6 — Index & Technical SEO

Technical SEO — 3 things. Claude handles the rest.

Technical SEO used to mean a checklist of 50 things. Now it's three steps — and AI does the heavy lifting.
1
Sitemap.xml
A list of every page
A map of your site for Google. Tells the crawler every URL worth indexing — so nothing gets missed.
<urlset> <url>  <loc>example.com/</loc> </url> <url>  <loc>/blog/how-to-unclog…</loc> </url> <url>  <loc>/services/emergency…</loc> </url> </urlset>
Do this Submit it once to Google Search Console. Done.
2
Robots.txt
The crawler's rulebook
Tells bots where they can and can't go. Points them to your sitemap. One tiny file, site-wide.
# robots.txt User-agent: * Allow: / Disallow: /admin   Sitemap: example.com/sitemap.xml
Do this Claude generates it. You don't touch it again.
3
Google Lighthouse
Your performance report
Scores your site on speed, SEO, accessibility, best practices. Run it → paste the report to Claude → it fixes everything.

Do this Copy report → paste to Claude. It fixes images, fonts, CSS blocking.
Submit the sitemap, ship the robots.txt, paste the Lighthouse report. That's technical SEO in 2026.
